Mathew 11: 28 “Come to me all who are weary and burdened and I will give you rest”. Our beloved mother, Irene sadly passed away on November 19, 2024, at the age of 83, in her home at the Villa St. Francis. She was surrounded by family when welcomed to her final resting place in the loving arms of our Lord. She is leaving behind a legacy of kindness and giving from the heart. She battled health challenges throughout her life, but it never stopped her from loving her family so deeply. She truly had an abundance of love to share with everyone she met and touched the lives of many people along the way. Irene was born and raised in Bevent, Wisconsin. She completed high school and moved to Milwaukee. She worked various jobs and spent most of her career at Master Lock. The Villa St. Francis became Irene’s retirement home for the past 3 years where she felt cared for, safe, and loved. Irene enjoyed the simple things; a visit from family and friends, a daily phone call, greeting cards in the mail (she kept every note and card), McDonalds coffee, her rosary, and hugs from her family, friends and caregivers at the Villa. She LOVED to play Rummy with her card friend group, craft in the activities room, and toe tap to all Johnny Cash songs. More important she was a woman of strong faith. She attended Mass and rosary in the Villa chapel every day. She was a devoted prayer warrior for her family, friends, and the Villa caregivers. Irene was a true servant of the Lord for the residents with memory care. She was seen by staff everyday providing comfort to residents who needed their hand held because she did not want them to feel lonely. She will always be remembered for this act of unconditional love. Irene, a loving widow leaves behind her children Mike (Sandy) Shulfer and Kim (Tim) Rymer. Grandchildren Amanda (Nick) Opgenorth, Ericka (Alex) Black, Kayla (Frank) Conway, Jonathon Rymer and Morgan Rymer. Great grandchildren Athena Opgenorth, Ellie and Colton Black, and Joelle Conway. A Memorial Mass will be held on Thursday, December 26th at 3:00pm in the chapel at the Villa St. Francis Assisted Living in Milwaukee.
