Katherine Ann Gether "Feets"

(nee Mueller) Peacefully passed on February 12, 2011, age of 68. Loving mother of William R. and Sally L. Gether. Proud grandmother of Brandon L. Degeneffe. Dear sister of Richard (Beverly Steele) Mueller, Louise (Richard) Scott and the late Elaine J. Blaski. Aunt of Shannon and Sheryl Scott. Loving caregiver to her cat "Paws". Further survived by other relatives and many dear friends. My Mother, Katherine, will be greatly missed by all those that knew her and loved her. She was as special woman with many gifts and talents. In her life, she took the time to enjoy so many things: music, cooking, gardening, shopping, the outdoors, animals (both wild and tame), puzzles, and she couldn't resist a good Polka. She participated in many activities: bowling, ceramics, calligraphy, drawing, flower arranging, guitar, traveling and bird watching. Some of her favorite moments were at the Milwaukee County Zoo on Mother's Day with me and Brandon, going to the WI State Fair, Christmas with her family, and any time she could cook out on her grill with friends or family. The North Shore Legion Post #331 played a big part in Katherine's life. Before her retirement, she had been their bartender, cook, manager, auxiliary member, friend and patron. Volunteering for the Poppy Drive was a source of great enjoyment and pride for her. She made many friends over the years at that establishment. She was also very fond of their Friday Night Fish Fry and a Manhattan or 2. Katherine was a big part of her grandson's life, and she couldn't have been more proud of him when he joined the United States Air Force. Although she passed prior to his graduation ceremony, he knows she was right there with him as he graduated to Airman! Brandon respectfully considers his Oma a "proud, no-nonsense woman, who loved her family more than anything else.". A sincere THANK YOU to the devoted staff at Columbia/St. Mary's Sacred Heart Rehab Center. You took such wonderful care of Kat while she was with you, and she spoke very highly of all of the PT, OT, ST, RT, PCA and RN staff that cared for her. Please make donations to the charity of your choice, Katherine donated to many charities: Milwaukee Rescue Mission, World Wildlife Fund, Defenders of Wildlife. Her love of all animals was apparent to anyone that knew her. She cared for many finches, a cockatiel and 2 cats most recently. No words can express how much I miss my mom, but I will remember her and keep her in my heart ALWAYS!
