Paul Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Paul Salsini, 88 years old, died on June 5 in Milwaukee. He is survived by his wife, Barbara (Kienlen) of 64 years, as well as sons James (Rita) of Charlottesville, VA, John (Asia) of South St. Paul, MN, and daughter Laura (Doug) of Newark, DE. He is also survived by granddaughters Natalie (Nick), Stephanie (Joey) and Jenny Salsini, and a grandson, John; sisters-in-law Lois Bournelis of Mountain Brook, AL, Maryann Kaiser of Chicago and Marie Kienlen of New Braunfels, TX, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, friends and his cat Rosie. He is predeceased by his parents, Louis and Josephine (Consani), three sisters, Rose Liikala, Arlene Latva, and Dora Lavorini, and two brothers, Robert and Louis. A journalism graduate of Marquette University, Paul worked at the former Milwaukee Journal for 37 years as a reporter, editor and staff development director. He also taught journalism courses and the history of musical theater at Marquette University for 48 years. In 1985, he founded the quarterly magazine The Sondheim Review and was its editor for ten years. In retirement, he became an award-winning author of a series of novels set in Tuscany and a non-fiction book about Sondheim, gave musical theater programs at retirement homes, and volunteered as an editor for the Neighborhood News Service. Visitation will be on July10:00 am at the Milwaukee Catholic Home, With a memorial mass at 11:00am followed by a reception at noon.. Memorial contributions may be sent to the House of Peace or the Riverwest Food Pantry.
