Phyllis K. Wagoner

(nee Haflich) Phyllis Wagoner died peacefully on October 28, 2011, at her home at St. Johns on the Lake in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, at the age of 91. Her family was at her side. She was born in Markle, Indiana on November 9, 1919 and spent her younger years in Indiana and Springfield, Ohio. She graduated from Markle High School and International Business School in Ft. Wayne, Indiana. For most of her life she lived in Springfield, Ohio with her husband Richard. Here she was active in multiple organizations including the Springfield Symphony Auxillary, PEO, and many forums at the High Street Methodist Church. Music has been a big part of her life. She was part of an accordian band that performed at the Chicago World's Fair and many other venues. She also played the organ at a local skating rink when she was young, and she taught piano and organ lessons from her home. She was the organist at High Street Methodist Church in Springfield for 20 years, providing lovely music for the choir and church services for all of those years. Phyllis was a wonderful, caring wife and mother, always prioritizing her family when given a choice. She loved family gatherings and shared many happy vacation trips with family and friends. She loved to travel, visiting much of the United States, European destinations, and Central America.The family would like to acknowledge the entire staff at St. John's on the Lake. They have been wonderfully attentive to her needs in her latter years. We especially want to acknowledge the wonderful, caring staff at Canterbury Court. They have been so important in recent years when Phyllis had to rely on others for help. They became a part of her family. She is preceded in death by her parents Dr. Curtis and Zoa (Gaskill) Haflich, her husband Richard, her infant sister Joanne, and her two brothers Gene and Robert. She is survived by her two children Andrea of Shorewood, Wisconsin, and Gregory of Boston, Massachusetts. Memorials in Phyllis's name can be made to the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra or Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program.
