Obituary

Anita Frieda Luetkens, 84, of Loganville, Wisconsin, passed away on Feb 19, 2020 at Saint Francis Place in Milwaukee.  Anita was born September 12, 1935, at her childhood home in Loganville, Wisconsin, the daughter of the late Paul and Minnie (Schlieckau) Luetkens.

Anita was baptized in 1935 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Loganville, confirmed in 1950, and graduated Reedsburg High School in 1955.   She grew up on the family farm in Loganville, where she helped her aunt Lydia and brothers Ferdinand and Donald run the family farm.  For two summers, Anita worked in a canning factory processing peas and corn.  In 1958, she moved to Milwaukee to assist the Blochowiak family and lived with them intermittently until the death of Beverly Blochowiak Wurster in 2010.   Anita also worked for several other families, performing housekeeping duties and child care.  In 2011, Anita worked at a resale shop called "Blessed Again” for about 3 years, steam pressing and sorting clothing.

Anita enjoyed going to church throughout her life.  In Milwaukee, she was a member of the Oklahoma Avenue Lutheran Church, where she sang in the choir and met her lifelong friend, Beverly Robinson, and she later attended Luther Memorial Chapel in Shorewood.  Over the years, she has been involved in Dorcas, which sent health kits overseas, sewed towels, and made quilts to give away.  She loved visiting family and friends when she could.  She enjoyed gardening and preserving food.  Anita always remembered dates very well.  She enjoyed giving her hand-embroidered items as gifts and was a kind, loving person.

Anita will be missed by her sisters Erma (Chris) Hill , Elaine Stickler;  nieces Lisa (Ben) Garbisch, Theresa (Matthew) Hartley, Pam Stickler, Tammy Stickler and Bonnie Stickler; as well as by her "adoptive family" Patricia and Kenneth Blochowiak, Jason,  Arvilla, Mitchell and Nora; other relatives and friends.

Anita was preceded in death by her half-brother Ferdinand Luetkens, brother Donald Luetkens, and her aunt Lydia Luetkens.
