Born in Cincinnati, Ohio on December 7th, 1948, Ann was a lifelong resident of Milwaukee. She resided in the Riverwest neighborhood, where she died peacefully at home on April 30th, 2021.
She was preceded in death by her loving parents, Robert Winston Bailey and Ruby Mae Bailey (King), brother Christopher Allen Bailey, and other aunts, uncles, and cousins. Her beloved Bernese Mountain Dog, Boomer, also preceded her in death.
Brother Robin Bailey of Milwaukee, several cousins, and many friends survive her.
Ann was a social activist and humanitarian. She was instrumental in the organizing of Viet Nam Veterans Against the War. She was a graduate of UW Milwaukee and worked with the city of Milwaukee to promote voter registration. Ann was an animal lover and was involved in Bernese Mountain Dog rescue efforts. She was a supporter of the Milwaukee County Zoological Society, the Nature Conservancy, and several other animal, environmental, and humanitarian organizations.
Ann loved music of many genres. She was a jazz enthusiast and was an avid concert and music festival attender. Ann loved a party and she loved her friends. She had a great smile and the best laugh in the world.
Ann’s friends are planning a memorial celebration of her life.
