Barbara Krueger (Sabin) Olin

January 8, 1931 ~ April 22, 2021 (age 90)

Barbara Krueger Olin (Sabin) passed away peacefully on April 22,2021. Barbara was born in Green Bay, Wisconsin on January 8, 1931 to the late Franklin and Carolyn Krueger. She was an avid Green Bay Packer fan who was shown how to throw a football by none other than THE Curly Lambeau.

Barbara moved to Shorewood, Wisconsin as a teenager where she met her husband, Robert Olin. Barbara and Robert both attended Shorewood High School and were married in 1952.

Barbara and Robert lived in Whitefish Bay where they raised four children, Amy Olin Kielma (Thomas), Robert Olin (Patrice), Melissa Olin Kral (Daniel), Jennifer Olin Rundell (Lee). She was a proud UW-Madison graduate, where she was a member of the Alpha Chi Omega Sorority. She earned her degree in Home Economics and dedicated her life to educating preschool and special needs students. Barbara taught at both Rainbow Preschool and North Shore Nursery School where she later became the Director. She also worked with special needs students at St. Francis Children’s Center. For over 70 years, Barbara was an active member of North Shore Presbyterian Church in Shorewood, serving on a number of boards and helping her husband Robert Olin run the Annual Strawberry Festival.

Barbara (affectionately known as “Mimi” to her 14 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and all of their friends) loved nothing more than spending time making memories with her family. Her household policy was that the back door was always open and the cookie jar was always full.

In 2006 Barbara met her late husband Daniel Sabin while working at her son’s Kletszch Perk Coffee Shop. They were married at North Shore Presbyterian Church and resided in Whitefish Bay until Dan’s passing. She then became Mimi to Dan’s children, Michael, Susan, Janet and Patty along with their children and grandchildren.

As a lifelong learner, Barbara was an avid reader who spent the majority of her time either reading a book to herself or adoringly sharing it with one of her students or extended family members. Mimi was best known for her kind heart, warm smile and acceptance of all.
