Gregory Allan Bushman

Gregory Allan Bushman, 74, of Shorewood, WI, passed away in his home on September 6, 2023.

Greg is survived by his wife Connie, daughter Amanda and her fiancé Ian; son Lucas and grandson Frankie. He also leaves behind his mother and father – Ernest (“Ernie”) and Mavis Bushman, and his five brothers and sisters – Shelly (Kevin) Korger, Joe (Wendy) Bushman, Brian Bushman (Trish Kurszewski), Laurie (Bruce) Spranger, and Angie (Kevin) Worzalla.

Greg was born in Galloway, WI, where as a teenager he worked the fields on his family’s potato farm – a business which began in 1909 and is the longest continuing potato growing operation in Wisconsin.

While forever proud of his family legacy, his passion and interests took him away from the farm, first to St. Norbert where he ran track and played football, then to graduate school at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee where he studied social work and psychology.

Throughout his career as a family and adolescent therapist, he helped countless patients navigate the challenges of life. He was humble about the impact he had, especially when it came to the many people he helped ‘off the clock’. Whether family, friends, or neighbors, we all benefited from his practical wisdom, sense of humor, and generous (and patient) spirit.

Greg appreciated the simple things, was cool under pressure and took on change head on - whether he sought it out or life called him to it. He never hid his faults and used his experiences to relate and connect with others.

He was a devoted Packer’s fan (despite weekly proclamations to never watch them again after a loss) and an avid walker and pickleball player. His laugh was infectious, especially if you caught him re-watching skits from the early days of Saturday Night Live or Second City T.V. He was sentimental, more so than many would presume and loved to recall past family vacations, silly (and often embarrassing) moments, and always said ‘I love you’.

He will be missed dearly and remembered fondly as a loving and caring father, grandfather, son, and husband.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, October 12 from 2 – 4 p.m. at the Hubbard Park Lodge in Shorewood, Hors d'oeuvres will be served and the laughs and loving memories of Greg will be shared.
