Jeanne Anne Kraft of Chicago, Illinois, passed away in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on August 11, 2023. Jeanne was born in Wisconsin on November 7, 1951, the daughter of Robert and Lois (Mohr) Kraft. She was raised in West Allis, Wisconsin where she was a 1969 graduate of West Allis Central High School. Jeanne earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Education from the University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse, a Master’s Degree in Educational Counseling and Psychology from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, and a Paralegal Degree from Roosevelt University in Chicago.
Professionally, Jeanne worked as a law school career services counselor, initially as an Assistant Director of Career Services as Chicago Kent College of Law, Illinois Institute of Technology, and then at Northwestern University Law School. Ultimately, she returned to Chicago Kent to become the Assistant Dean of Career Services. Following her retirement from Kent, she continued to be active in part time career counseling at Northwestern, the University of Chicago, and John Marshall Law Schools.
Jeanne touched many lives, both professionally and personally. They include the law students she counseled, her colleagues, and her many, many friends. She was smart, fun and funny, with a kind heart and a gentle spirit. She was a passionate animal lover, and some of her best times were spent with her late dog, Bubba. She also loved to travel, particularly to warm places with beaches and plenty of sunshine, and she did so often with family and friends. She will be missed by many.
Jeanne is survived by her sister, Carol (David Klehm) of Milwaukee, her brother, Patrick (JoAnn) of Plymouth, Minnesota, and Scottsdale, Arizona, nieces, Rebecca of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Jessica Kraft-Klehm (Louis Spinelli) of Seattle, Washington, and nephews Joshua (Christina) of Minneapolis, and Jared (Laura) of Milwaukee. She will also be missed by much loved great nieces Michaela, and Alexa, and great nephews, Henry, and Felix Klehm Spinelli,
In keeping with her love of animals, the family suggests donations in her name to an animal shelter of the donor’s choice.
A memorial service and celebration of life will be held at Immanuel Presbyterian Church, 1100 N. Astor Street, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, 53202 on September 30, 2023 at 4:00 p.m.
