Born to Eternal Life on July 29, 2022, age 46 years. Loving and proud father of Grace. He also cherished every moment he had with Nicola. Beloved son of Nina G. (nee Conigliaro) and the late James R. Buchholz. Dear brother of Jill Buchholz. Proud uncle of Gina. Further survived by other relatives and many friends
Family was everything to him, which is why he dedicated his final years to caring for his mother. It wasn’t just a job, but a beautiful and selfless act of love carried out unconditionally. He was a true hero.
Joey’s love of baseball, his hometown Milwaukee Brewers and his favorite New York Mets, was his true passion, which is what led him to write the book “Two Loves; The Story Of A Baseball Polygamist”. Often seen with a ball and glove on his hand, Joey lived and breathed baseball. Although he loved his Mets and Brewers, he loved the game more. Through this, he created the Utopian Baseball Universe- a fictional baseball world that puts players from all eras on teams and played out for the season. This universe connected so many people across the world, regardless of which team they rooted for. Joey leaves behind an entire universe, which is his extended baseball family. Though he left us too soon, he continues to be a “Uniter of People” with his legacy.
Aside from baseball, Joey was a connoisseur of all things mustard, hot sauce and Kit Kats.He also had a love for music (Billy Joel. WeeZer and Jeff Buckley were among his favorites), WWE, pizza, SNL, reading, writing, Fugazzi Fantasy Football and The Cleveland Browns.
If Joey didn’t bring you to tears with his insanely unique and witty humor, you likely never met him. Making people laugh was a gift that will be deeply missed.
A Celebration of Joey’s Life will be held Saturday, August 20, 2022 from 10:30 AM to 2:00 PM at Helfaer Field, 1 Brewer Way, Milwaukee 53214
“There’s a moon asking to stay
Long Enough for the clouds to fly me away
Well it’s my time coming, I’m not afraid, afraid to (go)
My fading voice sings of love”
