Maureen Anne (Berenson) Wolff (nee McMahon), of Shorewood, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 30, 2022 at the age of 82.
Maureen, or “Mo,” as she was lovingly called, was born in Queens, New York, in 1940 to Vincent Paul and Helen McMahon. She attended grammar and high school at Blessed Sacrament in the heart of Manhattan and then entered the business world as a secretary in the New York office of the Milwaukee-based Bruce Publishing Company.
In 1968, Maureen moved to Milwaukee, where she worked in the Bruce Publishing Company’s home office, then in administration for Mount Sinai and St. Mary’s Hospital’s. For eleven years she was Executive Secretary to the Vice Chairman of the Board at Robert W. Baird & Co. For the balance of her professional career, Maureen was the Director of Marketing at the Milwaukee Catholic Home. She was an active member of the Sales & Marketing Executives of Milwaukee, and the Health Care Public Relations and Marketing Society.
Maureen was just as active outside of the workplace, volunteering for the Shorewood Parent Teacher’s Association, Shorewood Specific Learning Disabilities Association, Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, and the Shorewood Little League. Her principal volunteer service was as an active member of the Pilot Club of Milwaukee for 27 years, serving in many roles, most notably as governor of the Midwest District of Pilot International.
Of all of her responsibilities in and outside of work, her most important roles were as a beautiful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She nurtured everyone she came into contact with, and exuded love for all God’s creatures; equally pleased to be surrounded by a boisterous family, as she would be to sit quietly and watch the birds in her back yard. Maureen welcomed everyone she met to take a seat at her table, and lovingly watched her family grow through her years.
Maureen was truly the heart of the family.
She is survived by her children Bruno Wolff III, Margaret (Peggy) Pascavis-Anderson (Don), Gerald Berenson Jr. (Rimma), Timothy Wolff (Christine), and Paul Berenson (Karen); Grandchildren Nicole Pascavis, Michael Pascavis, Katelyn Pascavis, Timothy Wolff Jr. (Jessica), Joshua Wolff, Lindsay Wolff, Kylie Wolff, Gerald Berenson III, and Liliya Sokolova; Great-Grandchildren Timothy Wolff III, Evelyn and Axel; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She will be especially missed by fur babies Pearl and Opal.
Maureen is preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Bruno Wolff Jr., and daughter Linda Berenson. Joint services for Bruno and Maureen will be held at the North Shore Funeral Home in Shorewood, Wisconsin on Saturday, October 8th, beginning at 1:00 pm. with a memorial service at 3 pm.
